Cool Stuff: Gallery1988’s Mattel Art Show: A Tribute To 70 Years Of Toys
If you grew up in the past half century, then your childhood was probably filled with toys made by Mattel. My childhood was filled with a ton ofHe-Manfigures and thoseM.U.S.C.L.E.minis could be found all over my room. I always wanted the Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots and a Mattel Overboard fromBack to the Future Part IIand childhood me would probably be shocked at which one of those officially released Mattel products future-Peter ended up owning.
A new art show will be opening up at Gallery 1988 next week calledMattel: A Tribute To 70 Years Of Toys. The show, curated by artistDave Perillo, is a small group show that features different artists take on some of Mattel Brand most iconic toys from over the past 70 years. The art in the show includes work based on properties such asMasters of the Universe, Barbie, Hot Wheels, M.U.S.C.L.E, Food Fighters, Magic 8-Ball, Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots, Dino RidersandFisher Pricetoys.
Mattel Art Show Preview

The show opens on Friday August 14th 2015 at Gallery 1988’s West location (located at 7308 Melrose Ave), with an opening reception from 7:00pm til 10:00pm. The show will run untill September 5th 2015.
