‘Everly’ Trailer: Salma Hayek Gets Her Own ‘Die Hard’
Christmas came and went last week in the real world, but in the firstEverlytrailer the holiday has just arrived. And it’s not looking very merry or bright for the poor title character.
Salma Hayekleads theJoe Lynch-directed actioner as a call girl who’s become a police informant. Needless to say, this doesn’t sit well with her mob boss ex (Hiroyuki Watanabe). He sends a string of killers to her apartment to finish off her and her family, forcing Everly to defend herself in any way she can. The film hits VOD in January then theaters in February but you can watch theEverlytrailer after the jump.

It’s a shameEverlyisn’t getting a bigger push, because this seems like it could be pretty entertaining. The action looks solid, the humor looks dark, and the role of a tough-as-nails action hero seems to suit Hayek pretty well. It also makes pretty great use of the setting, turning the limitations of Everly’s apartment into an asset.
Our ownGermain Lussierwas a big fan of Everly when he caught it at Fantastic Fest this fall, likening it to another Christmas classic,Die Hard: “The film never reaches the heights of that classic, but it keeps us suitably engaged because we never ever know what’s going to come through that door next.”
Everlylands on VODJanuary 23, 2015and in theatersFebruary 27, 2015.
