Sequel Bits: Martin Scorsese Responds To ‘Raging Bull 2’, Plus: ‘True Lies 2’, ‘Expendables 3’, ‘Anchorman 2’, ‘Cloverfield 2’, ‘Skyfall’, ‘Men In Black 3’

We already know all of you are pissed aboutRaging Bull 2. But if you’re wondering what Marty thinks, you’ll want to hit the jump to read his response. Plus:

“Oh, nothing I could say about it except I don’t think I could revisit the material, as they say,” he said when approached byGQfor his thoughts on the matter. “I think we said what we had to say at the time. All of us moved on.” Scorsese then added, “I really don’t know whatRaging Bull IIwould be.” Yeah, us either. [viaEW]

While theTwinssequelTripletsisalready starting to come together, not all ofArnold Schwarzenegger’s previous characters will be reappearing so quickly. Asked about a potentialTrue Lies 2, Schwarzenegger acknowledged that his personal troubles may keep him from reprising that part for some time yet.

Or True Lies 2, with that we’ll probably have to wait a little bit because it’s more of a family kind of a movie, the family dynamic works. My personal situation doesn’t work so well right now. Until that’s settled, then we can go off and do that again, with family subjects. [laughs]

Sorry,Tom Arnold— it seems you’re gonna have tokeep your patiencejust a little while longer. [Collider]

Steven Seagal’s been notably absent fromThe ExpendablesandThe Expendables 2, but that could be changing with the third installment of the throwback action franchise. Maybe.

“[Sylvester Stallone] plans to do another one and I have already been made an offer,” Seagal told French publicationExcessif.com. “We’ll see…” It’s far from an actual confirmation, but hopefully the fact that he’s talking about it in interviews suggests he’s at least seriously considering it. Last week’sannouncementof anAnchorman 2came as a bit of a surprise, seeing as it followed years of studio opposition. And while I’m happy to hear the news, I’m still curious to know exactly what it was that changed.THRtried to get the inside scoop from producerJudd Apatow, asking him how the project finally got greenlit, but it turns out he’s not exactly sure either:

I don’t know! They just called one day and they just said, ‘It’s on!’ So I’m not sure. It’s something we always wanted to do at some point, so I guess it just timed out forWill[Ferrell] andAdam[McKay], it’s their baby, so I was thrilled that they decided to do it.

Apatow confirms that the film is actively moving forward, though, saying that Ferrell and McKay are “writing it right now.” I can’t even begin to imagine how they’ll top some of the endlessly quotable one-liners from the first film, but I look forward to finding out.

CloverfieldwriterDrew Goddardhas been forthcoming about his eagerness to do a follow-up,tellingSTYDlast month “I’m in, I’m ready to do it.” But there’s a big gap between Goddard being ready to go and the ball actually getting rolling, and Goddard now cautions that “There’s nothing official on it yet.”

“I don’t really think that there ever was life to [the sequel] in a sense that we never did anything officially,” Goddard acknowledged in a new interview. “It’s something we [directorMatt Reeves, producerJ.J. Abrams, and Goddard] are interested in if we can come up with an idea that excites us.”

Which of course is easier said than done, given everyone’s hectic schedules. “I think if you ask JJ and Matt Reeves and myself what we’d want to do, you’d get three different answers, three very different films, [laughs] so it’s really just a matter of getting the three of us together and finding common ground,” said Goddard. “Those two guys have been pretty damn busy lately.” [Movies.com]

We’ve been discussing for the past several months just how muchJosh Brolinreally does look like a youngTommy Lee JonesinMen in Black 3, but what of the picture’s other notable past-present pair? Three recently released stills highlight the new character of Agent Oh, played in her youth byAlice Eveand in her older form byEmma Thompson. Check it out:

I don’t know — other than the fact that they’re both blond, I’m not seeing any special similarity between Eve and Thompson. They both look pretty damn sharp, though. [CBM]
