Sigourney Weaver Could Imagine ‘Alien 5’ Happening In The Future
By now, most fans have come to terms with the fact that Ripley’sAlienstory is over. After four films, the character has been put through the ringer numerous times. She’s lost everyone she ever loved, died, been resurrected, and more. It seems the people who control the franchise had long since moved beyond her story, instead focusing on prequels inPrometheus. But the star herself doesn’t think it’s over.
Speaking at theLos Angeles Times Hero Complex Film Festival,Sigourney Weaversaid she “could imagine a situation where we finish telling the story” and that she feels “like there is more story to tell.” Read the full Sigourney WeaverAlien 5quotes below.
Weaver said the following at the Los Angeles Times Hero Complex Film Festival, as reported by theLA Times. Here are the two quotes:
Had we done a fifth one, I don’t doubt that her humanity would have prevailed…. I do feel like there is more story to tell.
I feel a longing from fans for the story to be finished. I could imagine a situation where we finish telling the story.
Now, it seems both of these quotes are more Weaver speculating as an actress, rather than her sharing some kind of intimate, secret knowledge about what’s happening with theAlienIP. We know there’s a sequel toPrometheuscoming, but that’s a prequel to the events inAlienand maybe not even directly related yet. A fifthAlien, one with Ripley, feels more like a fan idea than a real film at this point. But Weaver’s desire to return to the franchise could be the spark that gets producers or screenwriters working on continuing the story.
After the last three installments though (Prometheusincluded), I’m not sure a fifthAlienis something I want to see. I’d rather see a movie inspired by the DNA ofAlien. That gave us movies likeBlade RunnerandThe Terminator, which are slightly more exciting thanAlien Resurrection.
