UPDATED: ‘Back To The Future’ Fan Celebration Is Coming The Real Twin Pines Mall In 2017

Last year brought endless amounts of celebration revolving aroundBack to the Future. Not only did it mark the 30th anniversary of the original time travel film from directorRobert Zemeckis, but it also marked the year in which Doc Brown and Marty McFly traveled into the future inBack to the Future Part II. There were endless screenings, fan gatherings, and tons of new memorabilia released. But just because those milestones are passed us doesn’t mean fans are done celebrating.
The first annualBack to the Future Fan Celebrationis coming next month, and the festivities will be happening at a location that will be very familiar to fans of the time travel franchise: Twin Pines Mall. Get the details on the 2016 Back to the Future Fan Celebration after the jump.
The Back to the Future Fan Celebration will take place in the parking lot of the Puente Hills Mall in City of Industry, California. For those of you who don’t know, this was the real location used for Twin Pines Mall, which becomes Lone Pine Mall after Marty travels back in time and knocks down one of Old Man Peabody’s pine trees in the originalBack to the Future.
The best news about this particular fan celebration event, unlike most of the major celebrations of last year, is that it’s free. Fans will appreciate that it’s scheduled forOctober 25th, which marks 31 years since the DeLorean time machine first traveled through time. The event begins at 4 pm and runs until 1:16 am, which is when Marty arrived at the mall to help with Doc’s experiment.
There aren’t a lot of details on the event yet, but a press release (viaHitFix) has promised live ’80s music, food trucks, contests, DeLoreans on display, book signings, vendors celebrity autographs and an outdoor screening ofBack to the Future. While attendance is free, I’m betting that stuff like the autographs and food trucks will still cost money individually.
If it’s too short notice for you to attend this year, the hope is that this will be something for fans to come out for every single year on October 25th in the same location. More than likely it will be an even bigger celebration on milestone years such as the 35th and 40th anniversaries coming up.
